I’m Olivia Trestrail, a photographer and multimedia artist based in New York City. My work explores the charged spaces between desire, identity, and the human body—often through the lens of the overlooked, the uncomfortable, and the imperfect. I use photography, found imagery, and sculptural materials to examine beauty, vulnerability, and the quiet weight of everyday life.

I’m drawn to rawness—moments that are as tender as they are uneasy. My process often includes self-portraiture, repurposed archives, and tactile interventions that stretch the photographic frame. Through this practice, I invite viewers to sit with tension, question social norms, and reimagine the aesthetics of care and confrontation.

Professionally, I’ve worked across gallery, nonprofit, and academic spaces—managing art studios, leading workshops, archiving Southern folk art collections, and assisting with public programming. Most recently, I held roles at Burnaway, the Souls Grown Deep Foundation, ATHICA, and The Humid. I bring the same rigor and curiosity to my behind-the-scenes work as I do to my creative practice, always with a focus on accessibility, community-building, and deep respect for artistic labor.

For me, art is about creating connections, celebrating our shared experiences, and embracing the messiness of life. Welcome to my world of photography, where dirty and delicate meet.
